Master of Science Accounting 4+1 program for BS and BA accounting students<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The 4+1 Accounting program will help students prepare for a challenging and rewarding career as an accounting professional practicing public accountancy, working in diverse business industries, or providing specialized services for nonprofits and governmental entities.\u00a0 Also, this program will be helpful in meeting some of the educational requirements needed to become a Certified Public Accountant.\u00a0 During the student\u2019s senior year in the undergraduate accounting program, students will begin taking graduate accounting courses, which will count toward both degrees, thereby, providing an accelerated path to completion.<\/p>\n

Minimum Requirements to Apply to Participate in the 4+1 Accounting program.<\/h4>\n
    \n\t
  • Must be a current full-time undergraduate student majoring in Accounting<\/li>\n\t
  • GPA 2.75 overall and in the major<\/li>\n\t
  • All MS Accounting prerequisite and foundation requirements must be met prior to applying to the program<\/li>\n\t
  • Must earn grades of B or better in ACCT\u00a0301<\/span> Intermediate Accounting I<\/span> and ACCT\u00a0302<\/span> Intermediate Accounting II<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\t
  • Must earn grades of C or better in each of the following courses: ACCT\u00a0201<\/span> Fundamentals of Accounting I<\/span>, ACCT\u00a0202<\/span> Fundamentals of Accounting II<\/span>, BUS\u00a0270<\/span> Statistics<\/span>, BUS\u00a0330<\/span> Business Finance<\/span>, BUS\u00a0360<\/span> Principles of Marketing<\/span>, ECON\u00a0220<\/span> Economic Analysis I<\/span>, ECON\u00a0221<\/span> Economic Analysis II<\/span>, and MGMT\u00a0300<\/span> Principles of Management<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\t
  • Must earn a grade of C+ or better in each of the following courses: ACCT\u00a0401<\/span> Auditing<\/span>, ACCT\u00a0402<\/span> Advanced Accounting<\/span>, and ACCT\u00a0308<\/span> Federal Taxation I<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\t
  • If any of the grades for undergraduate ACCT courses are not satisfied, a substantially equivalent course may need to be added and requires approval by the MS Accounting Program Director.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    MS Accounting Courses in Senior Undergraduate Year<\/h4>\n
      \n\t
    • A maximum of 15 units of MS Accounting courses can be taken in the senior year with a maximum of 9 units in each semester.<\/li>\n\t
    • MS Accounting course options during the senior year may include MACC\u00a0404<\/span> Corporate Taxation<\/span>, MACC\u00a0406<\/span> Forensic Accounting<\/span>,\u00a0MACC\u00a0407<\/span> Advanced Cost Accounting<\/span>,\u00a0MACC\u00a0408<\/span> Governmental and Not for Profit Accounting<\/span>, MACC\u00a0443<\/span> Accounting Ethics and Professional Responsibilities<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\t
    • MACC\u00a0443<\/span> Accounting Ethics and Professional Responsibilities<\/span> may be used to satisfy ACCT\u00a0443<\/span> Principles of Ethics and Professional Responsibility in Accounting<\/span>.<\/li>\n\n\t
    • No undergraduate courses may be used to satisfy MS Accounting graduate level courses.<\/li>\n\t
    • Once accepted to program, it is expected students will register to attend both the Fall and Spring of their senior year as full-time students. \u00a0<\/li>\n\t
    • Students may take remaining GE and major requirements concurrently during this senior year.<\/li>\n\t
    • Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in MS Accounting courses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

      How to Prepare to Meet Eligibility Requirements<\/h4>\n
        \n\t
      • Meet with your Academic Advisor as early as the first semester of the freshman year to review both undergraduate Accounting curriculum and 4+1 Accounting program requirements. \u00a0<\/li>\n\t
