Enactus is an international nonprofit organization composed of students, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better, more sustainable world. The University of La Verne established Enactus on campus in 2006 under the leadership of Dr. Issam Ghazzawi.
In the decade that followed, La Verne Enactus has harnessed the power of entrepreneurial action to create and implement community empowerment projects. Guided by our academic advisors and partnering with sponsor companies, we channel our talents and energies to create opportunities for those in need. In doing so, every person and community touched is empowered to live to their fullest potential.
La Verne’s Enactus team has helped build a catering business in Mexico, donated business clothing to college graduates in the Philippines, built gardens to combat childhood obesity, assisted an orphanage in constructing a greenhouse, and more. Their actions have won numerous awards and raised the profile of the university immensely.
In addition to empowering our surrounding communities, Enactus also hosts regional competitions in which teams are invited to showcase their projects via a 17-minute presentation. Regional Champions move on to the National Exposition to compete for the honor and privilege of representing the United States at the Enactus World Cup. For five years, our team has represented the university at both the Enactus Regional Competitions and National Expositions. Because of our professional presentation style and elaborate visual production, we continue a legacy of formidable competitors. However, it is the outstanding quality and results of our projects that has earned us the reputation of the best that La Verne has to offer.
