La Verne’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) provides a strong foundation in the main areas of business administration, as well as a broad exposure to contemporary management skills. Emphasis is on the development of competencies necessary to manage in a critical, rational and effective manner within today\u2019s complex global environment.<\/p>\n

The program does not require work experience and welcomes students with bachelor’s degrees from all fields.<\/p>\n

Prerequisite courses in accounting and finance, economics, and statistics are designed to assist students without a previous business education. If required, these courses should be among the first ones completed in the program. A review of each student\u2019s combination of undergraduate coursework and any relevant work experience will determine whether those prerequisite courses are required.<\/p>\n

The core courses develop a solid understanding of the role of the\u00a0professional manager within organizations, and the responsibilities\u00a0held within the firm and society in our global economy. The\u00a0program\u2019s concentrations allow students to develop a professional\u00a0focus or a specialization that is most relevant to their career goals.<\/p>\n

Students can select a set of courses or a concentration<\/a> that addresses\u00a0each student\u2019s individual career needs. Courses can be selected from\u00a0any of the scheduled elective graduate business courses (500-level\u00a0BUS listing, other than foundation courses, or from courses in other\u00a0disciplines) with the approval of the student\u2019s academic advisor.<\/p>\n

Students who possess the prerequisite business knowledge may complete the program with a total of 36 units (or 12 courses). The MBA Program consists of:<\/p>\n

    Concentrations and Electives for the MBA<\/h3>\n

    Students will take a total of 12 semester hours for concentrations\/electives. In addition to the concentrations listed below, students may pursue any of the concentrations listed under the MS Management and Leadership and take one more elective course if needed.\u00a0 Alternatively, students may complete 12 semester hours of electives from 500-level BUS courses other than foundation courses. Units do not double count in the Core and the Concentration. The concentrations listed below are available only on the La Verne campus except for Marketing, Management and Leadership, and Information Technology, which are also available online.<\/p>\n

    Note: Students who choose a 9 semester hour concentration are required to take an additional 3 semester hour elective course.<\/p>\n
