Students connect with peers across continents to collaborate on projects for actual companies. Professors play a pivotal role, guiding students through these experiential learning opportunities, while researchers benefit from the rich, multi-source data generated by thousands of international teams each year<span class=\"whitespace-nowrap\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"how-is-the-best-professor-selected\" class=\"mb-2 mt-6 text-lg font-[500] first:mt-0 dark:font-[475] [hr+&amp;]:mt-4\">How Is the Best Professor Selected?<\/h2>\n<p class=\"my-0\">The Best Professor (or Best Instructor) Award at X-Culture is highly competitive. In the most recent round, 160 instructors from 154 universities across 49 countries were considered. The selection process is rigorous and data-driven, with each instructor evaluated on 124 distinct performance variables<span class=\"whitespace-nowrap\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Key evaluation criteria include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"marker:text-textOff list-disc\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"my-0\"><strong>Class-Average Performance:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Student outcomes, including effort, intellectual contribution, collegiality, and teamwork, are central to the evaluation.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"my-0\"><strong>Class Diligence:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Metrics such as the ability to meet deadlines and submit weekly progress reports carry significant weight.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"my-0\"><strong>Report Quality and Plagiarism:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>While these are considered, they are weighted less heavily due to the collaborative, cross-university nature of the teams.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"my-0\"><strong>Instructor-Specific Contributions:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>This includes the quality of pre-project preparation, the accuracy of student rosters, the depth of report evaluations, and additional contributions such as organizing webinars or developing training materials.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"my-0\"><strong>Class Size and Study Level:<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>The challenges of maintaining high performance in large undergraduate courses versus smaller graduate classes are also factored in.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"my-0\">After thorough analysis, a select group of professors who consistently excel across these criteria are recognized as <a href=\"https:\/\/x-culture.org\/2025-1-best-professors\/\">Best Professors<\/a> for the semester<span class=\"whitespace-nowrap\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"my-0\">Dr. Doug Chun\u2019s selection as Best Professor is a testament to his unwavering commitment to real-world learning with an international perspective.
