La Verne alum honored by Disney

In 1996, Anita Ron (’88) was raising two young children when she downsized out of a corporate food service position. With three vacuum cleaners and $700, Ron launched a janitorial company called BriteWorks.

Today, BriteWorks employs around 200 associates and provides commercial and janitorial services for clients including Coca-Cola, Disney, and the  Super Bowl (2022-24).

Ron was recently honored with the 2024 SBA Los Angeles District Small Business Person of the Year award, which recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate exceptional leadership and create sustainable, thriving businesses in their communities. She is currently a member of the ULV College of Business Advisory Board and vice president of the board of directors for the National Latina Business Women Association Inland Empire Institute, a regional nonprofit organization with the purpose of strengthening the success of Latina entrepreneurs in the Inland Southern California region.
